Prom Styles For Guys
Most guys wear tuxedos to their proms, which is considered -semi-formal attire.+ But if you have a nice dark-colored suit, you might be able to wear that, depending on your particular dance. The school or social mores where you live may require a tux for the evening. But in California, people are much more unconventional and casual.
Prom is a once-in-a-lifetime event and is often the first formal dinner dance teenagers attend. Unfortunately, most of the prom advice out there is about choosing the best hairstyle, prom dress, and makeup for the big night – not exactly tips for guys. Yet prom can be a romantic night for a gentleman to spend with his special lady, and knowing how to plan for the prom, get ready for the big date, and how to wrap up the evening as a gentleman can help guys approach prom with confidence.
The need to sport a suit does not mean you have to change your whole look. There’s an endless amount of ways to let your try style shine through your tux. Things to think about when considering your prom night outfit: jacket length, color, and, of course, what you choose to wear underneath (oxford, vest, tie).
You’re probably a big know-it-all when it comes to shaving. But even if you’re a shaving pro, consider these tips: Shave after your shower or while you’re still in it — not before — to get a super-smooth finish; if your skin is dry, get an aftershave balm for the ultimate in softness; and don’t forget to take those pieces of tissue off your face!
As it turns out, the students interviewed for the piece put a lot of thought into their prom night attire, even going so far as to research styles on the internet before going into the store. Concerns were also expressed about not clashing with the dress and not looking like every other guy at the prom.
However, today you have the freedom to wear a very handsome suite as oppose to a formal tux. This choice is practical because you can get many more uses out of a suite than just the one night and can cost you just as much as renting a tux. Remember, this isn’t your parents prom where you have to stick to tradition, so don’t be afraid to go for a well fitted blazer and tailored slacks for a casual elegance or mix and match your choices.
Following Are a Few Tips And Suggestions For Young Men
Choose your date
This may seem like an obvious suggestion, but the idea is to choose your date wisely. Many young women have an unreal expectation about prom, much like a wedding day. They may view an invitation to the prom as the next best thing to a formal engagement. If you have a steady girlfriend or a girl you’re comfortable with, by all means, take her to the prom; but if there is a girl who simply has a crush on you and would look pretty on your arm, think carefully before you invite her.
Be Clear And Direct
Come right out and ask her, “Would you like to go to the Prom with me?” Dropping hints or skirting the issue can cause uncomfortable moments for both people involved.
If You Get A No . . .
Either choose another girl to ask or make other plans with a friend or a group. If she doesn’t give you a direct answer (she may be waiting for someone else to ask her), tell her you’ll ask her for a final answer in a couple of days. That way you stay in charge and you’re not left in limbo!
