For all you ladies (guys too) out there, prom is one of the most important nights to be remembered in your entire life. When you go to your prom make sure you’ve branded this moment in time in your memories. Make it special. Make this dance count and stand out from all the other dances you’ve been to. This is the last special occasion in high school!

We understand that prom is important to you, and that prom is important in itself–not just some kid thing, but a fundamental and unique aspect of our culture. That means that we take prom as seriously as you do, and since you’ve probably been all around our website by now, then you know we’re not kidding.

The memories from prom night last a lifetime. That means there is a lot of pressure on prom decorating committees to create the ambiance that contributes to those memories. Being on a prom night decorating committee is a huge undertaking and requires careful planning on the part of the members. The three main areas for the prom decorating committee to consider are choosing a theme, planning the decorations, and organizing people to do the actual decorating.

Sports are almost always a favorite for brothers. Think about it: while the guys at the Prom are sweating it out in uncomfortable, expensive tuxedos, and making almost complete fools of themselves on the dance floor, you could be skillfully ice skating in comfortable, cotton, hockey clothes with your non-Prom friends, scoring goals and looking really dignified.

Having fun on prom night takes a lot of energy. With all the dancing you will be doing, you need to make sure that you get a good night’s sleep before prom and maybe even take a nap the day of prom. If you talked your parents into extending curfew on prom night, you will need all the sleep you can get beforehand.

Prom Night Tips for Parents

Prom night can be stressful for parents. These tips will help you ensure a safe, worry-free evening.

Make sure your child has a plan for the evening and that you know it.

Work with the school to have food served during the prom.

Know all of the “hot spot” destinations.

Know who is driving - if it’s a limo, check their policy on allowing alcohol in the vehicle. Check mark in Box

Discuss the school’s prom rules with your child and the consequences for violating them.

Make sure that alcohol is not brought into your home or onto your property by your child’s friends.

Under no circumstance should it be acceptable for the teen to ride with a driver who is under the influence. To eliminate drunk-driving problems, you and other parents might chip in for a limo. Or maybe line up a designated driver (acceptable to all concerned) to shuttle the kids around in your car. In any case, make sure your teen has cab fare, and a cab company phone number, in case of need. Make sure the teen truly feels free to call home—at any time of the night or early morning—for a ride or other assistance without fearing repercussions.
